Who is this course for?

This three-day practical first aid training course includes training on specific injuries and illnesses that may have been identified in your first aid needs assessment. It is suitable for any person who may need to provide first aid to someone who becomes ill or injured while at work.

What is covered?

Our three-day course includes skills to help recognise and treat a wider range of injuries and medical conditions, including helping someone who:

  • feels faint
  • is having a stroke
  • is having a diabetic emergency
  • is having a severe allergic reaction
  • is having an asthma attack
  • has a head injury
  • has been poisoned
  • has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
  • has an injury to the bone, muscle or joint (including spinal injuries)
  • is having a heart attack (including the administration of aspirin)
  • is having an angina attack
  • unresponsive and not breathing – including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • unresponsive and breathing
  • having a seizure
  • Choking
  • bleeding heavily
  • burnt (including a range of different burns e.g. electrical)

How does it work?

This course runs from 9am until 5pm each day with a lunch break between morning and afternoon sessions. We recommend that you bring your own lunch as facilities are dependant on where the course is taking place. 

This course is a practical course with a hands on approach with the aim to deliver the skills and confidence to use first aid skills in a real setting. 

On completion of the course, you will receive a first aid at work certificate which is valid for three years. 

Who is this course for?

This two day course is suitable for anyone who wants to refresh and update the skills they previously learned on their first aid at work course, in order to renew their certificate.

What is covered?

This refresher course covers the steps to take for a variety of injuries and medical conditions, including:

  • feels faint
  • has been poisoned
  • has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
  • has an injury to the bone, muscle and joint (including spinal injuries)
  • Stroke
  • is having a heart attack (including the administration of aspirin)
  • is having an angina attack
  • is having a stroke
  • is having a diabetic emergency
  • is having a severe allergic reaction

This one day course is ideal for those working in low-hazard environments, such as a shop or office, or for organisations whose first aid needs assessment identifies the requirement for somebody trained in emergency first aid. It suitable for those over 16+ years of age.

What is covered?

The emergency first aid at work course gives learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of first aid emergencies they could encounter in the workplace, including helping someone who is:

  • unresponsive and not breathing – including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • unresponsive and breathing
  • having a seizure
  • Choking
  • bleeding heavily
  • burnt (including a range of different burns e.g. electrical)

The course also includes information on:

  • assessing a casualty
  • monitoring a casualty
  • where to get help
  • electrical incidents
  • accident recording and reporting
  • the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH).

This course gives learners the first aid skills to help an adult or child who:

  • is unresponsive and breathing
  • is unresponsive and not breathing
  • is bleeding
  • is choking
  • has a burn
  • is in shock
  • has a bone, muscle or joint injury (including spinal injuries)
  • is having a seizure
  • has cramp or an Achilles tendon injury

The course also covers basic information on accident reporting.
