Those who work with children have a responsibility to safeguard and protect the children in their care from harm. The NSPCC defines safeguarding children as “the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.”

This course guides learners through definitions, key legislation, the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead, frameworks and guidance for assessment and referral, multi agency partnerships and the importance of records.

By the end of the course learners will be aware of the key legislation which governs safeguarding children in the UK and who is responsible. This includes the Children Acts of 1989 and 2004, the children and young persons act 2008, Children and Social Work act 2017 and various education acts.
