A vulnerable adult is someone aged 18 and over, who may need community care services for reasons like mental health issues, disability, age or illness. They may not be able to look after or protect themselves from physical, mental or financial abuse.
Everyone has the right to live safely and abuse or neglect can occur anywhere, therefore it is important for anyone with safeguarding responsibilities to have the skills and knowledge to recognise the signs of abuse and that they respond swiftly and effectively using the correct methods of referral.
The course is spilt into three modules where learners will gain invaluable knowledge of what safeguarding means, who is considered vulnerable, the main types of abuse and signs of abuse, the legislation relevant to safeguarding adults in the UK, how to respond to referrals, how to make a referral and more.
