This Preventing Bullying and Harassment at Work training course explains the difference between bullying and harassment at work, identifies the relevant legislation that protects employees from harassment and explains the laws that put statutory duties on employers for tackling bullying in the workplace.

With 1 in 4 workers in the UK having experienced bullying or been made to feel left out in their place of work, typical harassment and bullying behaviours range from unwelcome remarks and persistent unwarranted criticism, to unwanted physical contact and shouting, affecting individuals’ confidence and performance, as well as having a negative impact on everybody in the working environment.

The course also covers the ‘protected characteristics’ which the Equality Act relates to, which protects workers against harassment related to those categories. Bullying and harassment remain significant workplace issues, despite increasing awareness of the problem. The consequences are severe: bullying and harassment recipients are more likely to experience long-term illnesses like anxiety, stress and depression, as well as experience confidence issues and affecting their work performance. Mishandled or unresolved cases can also lead to hefty penalties, negative publicity for the company and costly high staff-turnover.
