Fire Warden Training is a vital component in every workplace. Depending on the size of your premises, every workplace must appoint one or more fire wardens to carry out the preventative and protective measures required by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005.

Fires can spread within minutes and can have catastrophic effects on people’s lives and on businesses. Besides loss of life, fires can also cause huge economic losses, through damage of property, loss of business, insurance premiums and more.

Some of the negative effects that can originate from fires include:

Fire Wardens are appointed to carry-out duties in the event of a fire, contact emergency services, assist in evacuations, as well as ensuring there are evacuation procedures, management systems and risk assessments in place to keep your workplace compliant and safe. 

It is generally the employer’s responsibility to ensure their employee’s have adequate training that complies with the rules around fire safety. Failure to appoint a fire warden, could result in enforcement by an inspector or penalties consisting of a fine or up to two years’ imprisonment. 

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 your company is responsible for ensuring that employees are provided with adequate training. It is recommended that additional instruction, training and/or guidance be provided as a supplement to this course. As a fire warden (or fire marshal), you may be required to undertake additional specific training in accordance to your organisation, the roles within it, the tasks performed and the environment in which it operates.
