In every food business there are food hazards which can pose health risks to consumers; for example, bacteria can thrive under certain conditions and cause food to become contaminated.

In order to safeguard the public from foodborne illnesses, it is a legal requirement to have a food management plan.

HACCP is an internationally recognised standard for food management and helps food business operators to analyse, control and monitor potential food hazards in their business. This course will give you general awareness of food management plans and in particular HACCP.

This Level 1 Food Safety and Hygiene course has been endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality and certified by CPD to guarantee high quality content delivery to all learners. The course covers the key aspects relating to food safety and hygiene, what the potential risks to consumers are and what the law says.

Food safety and hygiene is of utmost importance for businesses, as it helps to protect the health of consumers from foodborne illnesses and food poisoning. Whether it’s buying a pre-packed sandwich from a supermarket or being served a school dinner, it is important for consumers to know that their food has been prepared and handled to the highest of standards. The course also illustrates what standards are expected to be met by environmental health officers during inspections.

The Government sets out legislation to ensure that businesses who are involved in the preparation, handling and serving of food are aware of the risks posed to consumers and know what their responsibilities are; this also ensures that thorough best practice training is delivered to all members of staff.
